LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette woman was sentenced to 13 years after she crashed her car into an apartment building, pinning a woman underneath it.
Erin Fikes,32, drove her car into the Sunset Ridge apartment complex, hitting her husband's girlfriend in the process.
According to Tippecanoe Co. Prosecutor Pat Harrington, Fikes was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years probation. This came after she pled guilty to attempted aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon and two counts of operating while intoxicated.
Investigators said she had both of her kids in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Toxicology tests showed Fikes had a blood alcohol content of .141 and was positive for amphetamines and cannabinoids.
