WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The West Lafayette Community School Corporation (WLCSC) moves forward with next year's budget.
District officials said the overall 2014 budget is about the same as the 2013 budget, which was more than $29 million. The estimated tax rate sits at 1.27 percent. But the corporation always has to plan for a higher budget.
"You don't know what your enrollment's going to be and that determines your state funding. You don't know what the assessed valuation will be and that determines your tax rate and what your levy can ultimately be. So you try to budget high as everybody probably hears every year," said Ross Sloat, WLCSC Business Manager.
The corporation should get those totals from the state in January.
Nobody spoke at Wednesday night's public hearing. The board is slated to vote on the budget on Oct. 9.
