LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Precision 18 Radar showed a wintry mix (light snow, freezing rain, sleet) passing through Greater Lafayette Monday morning.
Cold temperatures aloft will mean we say goodbye to the upper 60s and 70s from the weekend. The cold front will dip temperatures into the 40s with a warm up to the low 50s by the weekend.
The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office issued a Nixle alert Monday, warning drivers to take it easy in case the roads become slick. It's possible with the wintry mix bearing down on downtown Lafayette during the height of Monday morning's rush hour.
Around 7:30 a.m., News 18's Renaissance Camera with a view of the Tippecanoe County Courthouse showed light flurries across the lens.
Meteorologist Cameron Hopman said the wintry mix will be short-lived. He said the area should dry out for the rest of the chilly work-week.
