LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A disease thought to be under control due to vaccines is back on the rise.
Pertussis, more commonly known as whooping cough, is an infection that attacks the lungs and causes heavy coughing spells.

"If a young child, particuarly younger than six months, or someone with underlying lung or heart problems caught the disease, it could cause much more serious complications, like respitory failure, prolonged hospitalizations or even death," said Cates.
