WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette Brawlin' Dolls had their first bout of their season Saturday night.
Hundreds of people came to Family Sports Center on 250 North in West Lafayette to see the Dolls take on the Southern Illinois Roller Girls.
Roller Derby is an amateur sport where players known as jammers try and pass through the "pack" to try and score points. While roller derby is a very physical sport, those that are involved with the Dolls say that it's good family fun.
"My daughter sees me as a role model," said Brawlin' Dolls member Sorah Bones. "My son is two, he gets excited about coming and running around, when he gets older, he'll appreciate it too."
"It's just the fun, the sense of family. All the girls here, they love me, I love them," said Brawlin' Dolls announcer Dynamite Dan. "Outside of derby, just getting to know them and getting to know other people, it's been a great time."
The Brawlin' Dolls won the bout with a final score of 105 to 88.
