STATE LINE CITY, Ind. (WLFI) - An irrigation system is also being blamed for two wells going dry in State Line City and one well just over the border in Illinois.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was out checking wells Tuesday.
Town Board President Greg Robison tells News 18 brand-new irrigation pumps on a farm just north of town were tested Friday and Saturday and soon after, the wells dried up.
"We've had some good water and I think the ground water's pretty decent. So it's a concern when they're just testing and we're already having problems what happens if they really need to use the water," says Robison.
Robison says one well that went dry Saturday had worked for more than 30 years without a problem. He and a number of area residents got the water levels of their wells tested Tuesday just in case it runs out in the future.
