LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WFLI) - According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office at roughly 2:03 a.m. Tuesday, emergency crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle personal injury crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 South and County Road 450 East.
Investigators say a passenger car was traveling north on County Road 450 East, driven by 20-year-old Kailee Thayer-Alrich of Lafayette.
Sheriff's deputies say Thayer-Alrich pulled out in front of an SUV traveling southbound on U.S. 52, driven by 27-year-old Brian Smith of Lafayette.
Thayer-Alrich was transported by ambulance to IU-Health Arnett Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Smith did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
A Purdue football player was arrested for alcohol-related offenses over the weekend.
