TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Two separate motorcycle crashes shut down I-65 Thursday afternoon.
According to Indiana State Police, the first crash happened around 3 p.m. in Tippecanoe County between the State Road 25 and State Road 43 exits. Four motorcycles were involved. Troopers said it happened when traffic slowed in the southbound lanes. Trooper Aaron Allen said four people were taken to the hospital with minor cuts and bruises.
The second crash happened a little while later, just past the on ramp from State Road 43. Trooper Aaron McCormick said two motorcycles collided with a car. He said one motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers said the southbound lanes of I-65 were shut down for nearly 45 minutes.
Allen said it is motorcycle season, so all drivers need to be on the look out to prevent crashes like these.
"Keep your eyes on the road and make sure you're not distracted while you're driving. Make sure you're not following too closely and make sure you're keeping your vehicle at a reasonable speed," said Allen.
