LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Tippecanoe School Corporation (TSC) released a statementproviding an update on the events surrounding the November 18science lab accident at Wainwright Middle School.
TSC states that both burned students are now recovering well.One, 15-year-old Leighton Fruits, was treated and released at alocal hospital on the day of the accident. The other studentinjured, 14-year-old Cody Garrett, was in critical condition in anIndianapolis hospital for some time, but has now been released fromthe hospital and is at home.
The school corporation stated that while the investigation bythe Tippecanoe County Sheriff has been completed and no criminalcharges have been filed, TSC's own investigation continues.
TSC is evaulating the risks and benefits of the science lab. Nodemonstrations of this type are being conducted while theinvestigation continues.
