CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Three people have filed for the vacant commissioner seat in Carroll County.
Republicans Rex Millhouse, Jamie Rough and John Brown have filed with the clerk's office in hopes of taking over the District 1 seat.
The seat was declared vacant earlier this month due to a lack of residency by former commissioner Ron Slavens.
Last week, Slavens filed a lawsuit against the Carroll County Council and the Republican Central Committee. He said his removal from elected office was without merit. He is asking the judge for an injunction so that the District 1 seat is not filled by someone else.
Caucus is scheduled to meet April 3.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It was a packed house for the pay-off of a project two years in the making.
The man charged in connection with the death of a Flora woman has been cleared, more than six years after her death and two years after he was charged.
