TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Burnett Creek principal Mark Pearl recently won Elementary Principal of the Year in Indiana.. and staff and students decided to say "thank you" to him today.
The surprise party was held in the school's gymnasium. When Mr. Pearl walked in, he was greeted with a custom entrance song written just for him.
Students and staff got up and said a few kind words about him.
He was joined by his wife and his mother for the celebration. Pearl says he usually doesn't like surprises, but they pulled this one off.
"It's unbelievable and it's quite an honor and very humbling to see those students singing those songs that they helped write and just very rewarding," said Pearl.
State Senator Ron Alting and State Representative Sheila Klinker presented Pearl with an award from Governor Mitch Daniels' office.
