WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Once the drum is finished team 'Dropping the Bass' will fly the drum in the Red Bull Flugtag event. The flying machine is completely hand built by Purdue engineering students.
Team Captain Chris Yamamoto said this project is a fun way to take what he learns in the classroom to the real world.
"We are trying to promote what the Red Bull Flugtag is exactly," Yamamoto said. "As well as show off what we as students of Purdue University are doing more like the fun side of engineering things."
The event will be held in Chicago on September 21. The team will attempt to fly the home-made flying machine off of a pier into Lake Michigan.
