ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - Attica Police arrest a man late Saturday night in relation to a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning in downtown Attica.
Attica Police said the gunshot occurred near the intersections of Main and Perry Streets at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday.
Police said the suspected shooter, 36-year-old Ryan Garlin of Attica, was in a verbal dispute with 26-year-old Brandon Townson. During the argument, a single shot was reportedly fired by Garlin, but no one was struck by the round.
After the shot was fired, Garlin reportedly struck Townson on the side of the head one time with his hand and gun. Garlin was booked at the Fountain County Jail and posted bond.
The weapon believed to have been used in the incident has not been recovered. Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.
Search warrants were executed on Mr. Garlin's vehicle and his residence on Saturday night.
Garlin faces charges of Criminal Recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Class D Felony, Battery with a deadly weapon, a Class C Felony, Pointing a firearm, a class D Felony, and possession of paraphernalia a class A misdemeanor.
Paraphernalia was located in the residence during execution of the search warrant.
