FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Murder charges for a Warren County man, also accused of arson, have been dropped.
David Purcell, of Independence, is accused of setting a series of fires in Fountain and Warren Counties dating back to 2011, including one that killed 65-year-old Ronnie Shoaf in May of 2012 at Shoaf's home in Attica.
Court documents state that two counts of murder and one charge of arson resulting in bodily injury were dismissed without prejudice in Fountain County last week because of an incompetent witness.
However, because charges were dismissed without prejudice, Fountain County Prosecutor Terry Martin said charges can be filed again.
