TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A semi rollover shut down a portion of Interstate 65 in Tippecanoe County. It happened around 8:30 a.m. this morning on I-65 south just south of exit 178.
State Police said the driver who was hauling thousands of pounds of brake pads swerved to miss a piece of metal in the road when the 18-wheeler tipped over on its side.
One witness told News 18 he's surprised the driver wasn't seriously hurt.
"It just kind of flipped over and skidded on the side here and it didn't seem to affect anyone else," said Brian Bonnem. "Everyone was able to stop safely and he was able to open the door and get out of the truck on his own power."
The truck driver did not require medical attention.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
