TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A semi tractor was destroyed after an overnight fire in Tippecanoe County.
It was pulled over in the Tree Pro parking lot on County Road 250 North when the fire started after midnight Tuesday.
Wabash Township Fire Chief Mike Francis said the fire was put out in less than half an hour.
According to him, the fire was so hot it melted the top of the semi off.
"The first in engine crews said that the flames were about 25-30 feet in the air, so a lot of neighbors called 911. It was extremely hot because it actually melted both saddle tanks on the tractor, so been burning for awhile but we were able to get here pretty quick and knock it down," said Francis.
Tippecanoe Emergency Management was also on scene to assess how much diesel fuel had leaked.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
