Lafayette, IND. (WLFI) - Stylists all across Lafayette are sharpening their scissors and stocking up on hair spray in preparation for the first ever Hair Wars.
The Hair Wars is Sunday, November 3 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lafayette Theater. It is a competition featuring six local hair salons showcasing their most intricate and larger than life hairstyles with all proceeds going to the YWCA Domestic Violence program.
Angela's Images is one of the salons competing. Stylist Jesse Knoth says the whole idea is to go for avant garde looks that you won't see flipping in the pages of a magazine. He visited the News 18 This Morning set along with some models to give viewers an idea of what to expect at the show.
Tickets are $25 and are available at all six salons including Angela's Images (900 Kossuth Street, Lafayette.) The other five salons are Teaz (1803 Veterans Memorial Parkway South, Lafayette,) The Hair Spa (3111 Builder Drive #8, Lafayette,) Genevee's Studio (1024 Main Street, Lafayette,) KJ Nutt (509 N. 4th Street, Lafayette,) and Scissors in the City (124 N. 6th Street, Lafayette.)
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
Donations are being accepted to help around 300 seniors receive a holiday gift.
