WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - San Diego Padres pitcher and McCutcheon graduate Clayton Richard spoke with students at West Lafayette Junior-Senior High School as part of Red Ribbon Week.
Richard shared stories of friends that he graduated with who abused drugs and alcohol who have either died or been convicted of felonies.
He says he didn't want to sugarcoat his message because the consequences are severe.
"Kids in high school need to understand the reality of their choices they make the next few years and the consequences that come from them and how real it is," Richard said.
Richard says he hopes students learned they don't have to drink or do drugs to have a good time.
