WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Traffic will slowly start to increase on Northwestern by Wednesday if the weather cooperates.
West Lafayette city engineer Dave Buck said they'll be installing new pipes next week.
He said southbound lanes from the roundabout to Yeager Road will be closed for the day, or until the project is complete.
Buck said drivers will want to avoid the area and use Salisbury Street and Lindberg Road as detours.
There are several other state, city and private construction projects in that area, too.
Projects on Happy Hollow Road, Salisbury Street and State Road 26 have been delayed so the streets are accessible to drivers during Northwestern construction.
Buck said he recommends using those roads this summer.
He said Northwestern will not completely close, there will just be several road restrictions for the next few months, so drivers will just need to bring their patience on the road.

The alternate routes will be outlined in orange.
Construction should be complete in August.
