TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Improvements to railroad crossings could be coming to Tippecanoe County. The county's Transportation Planners voted to recommend the Area Plan Commission accept a state amendment for new railroad crossings.
The amendment would improve nine crossings in Tippecanoe County. Those include crossings at County Road 800 North, Burton Road, O'Farrell Road, Main Street, County Road 1075 East, County Road 950 East, Adams Road, New Castle Road and Navco Drive.
Improvements will include new crossing posts, reflector strips and new yield or stop signs if needed.
Planners may also have to push back the Lindberg Road and Klondike Road projects to 2017. Lack of federal dollars may divert the project from its original 2016 start time.
