LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Area protesters gathered to demand that Congress end the shutdown.
Members of the group Move-On held demonstrations across the country to call for the government to start working again.
About two dozen people locally gathered outside of representative Todd Rokita's office Tuesday. All of those in attendance agree that Speaker of the House John Boehner and the rest of the Republicans are to blame.
Protester John L. Futrell says that the Congress needs to look beyond party lines.
"Our message to Mr. Rokita is to uphold the responsibilities that you have in Congress. You know, look out for your veterans that made this country free, and look out for the federal workers that need their employment," said Futrell.
The Move-On Group plans on holding other protests to help get their message out.
Indiana Governor Mike Pence (R) proposed a pre-K voucher program as part of his 2014 agenda. The program would give underprivileged children access to pre-K programs.
Several generations gathered Saturday to remember a day that will live in infamy. The day marked 72 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor.
