LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - To cut down on cavities and remember our troops, one Lafayette dentist office is asking kids to donate their Halloween candy.
It is part of the second annual Operation Troop Treats at Kool Smiles in Lafayette.
Kool Smiles will take the candy and it will be sent as part of care packages to troops stationed overseas.
In exchange the kids get a toy.
Dental assistant Brittany Garibaldi said they haven't had many donations yet, but they are still hopeful.
"We've had one kid come in so far, but I know there's trick-or-treating (Friday) and I think Saturday," Garibaldi said. "So, we're hoping to see more, probably next week."
"We got 38 pounds of candy last year, this year we're hoping to double that," said Garibaldi.
Kool Smiles will be accepting candy donations at Commerce Drive location in Lafayette through Wednesday.
