FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The identity is still not known for a fatal crash in Fountain County over the weekend.
Sheriff Bill Sanders says it happened shortly before midnight Saturday, at the intersection of U.S. 41 and County Road 300 North, otherwise known as the Mellott blacktop, about three miles north of I-74.
Investigators say a vehicle heading west on 300 didn't stop at the intersection, drove over 41, up an earthen embankment and crashed into a field. By the time authorities arrived on scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.
One person was killed.
Sanders says deputies are awaiting confirmation from dental records before identifying the victim.
