TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Today marked the sixth full day of classes for the Tippecanoe School Corporation and a Harrison High School alum is now using his job to get back in the schools to help keep kids safe.
New TSC School Resource Officer, Deputy Aaron Gilman, started the job just 10 days ago. Gilman said he wanted to get back into the schools to help provide a positive role model for kids. He said that of all the kids he interacts with, the kindergartners are the most curious.
"Kindergartners and the younger kids are, first and foremost, curious why I'm in the building," said Gilman. " But, once I answer those questions, they want to know what type of tools I'm carrying on my belt and what all the ensignia and stuff on my uniform means. Just have that interaction with kids in a low stress environment."
