FOWLER, Ind. (WLFI) - One day before a scheduled controversial vote on a superintendent, some positive budget news Monday night.
The Benton Community School Corporation School Board passed their budget for 2014. This year's fall student count was 1,818.5, an increase of 26 students over last year. Getting less than a whole number is possible because it takes two kindergarten students to equal one full student.
Although budget numbers from the state are not in yet, school officials hope that translates to about $105,000 extra dollars for the district with a general fund budget of roughly $103.5 million.
Board President Mike Souligne declined comment to News 18 about the budget.
As News 18 has reported, the board is expected to vote on a contract change for Superintendent Destin Haas Tuesday at 7 p.m., giving him a buyout of $25,000 if he leaves by the end of the month.
The meeting is still scheduled to happened at the administration building.
