MONON, Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana State Police say a driver had to be airlifted to Indianapolis after being involved in a crash Wednesday evening.
Troopers say Michael McKinney, of Fowler, Ind., was driving his SUV south on U.S. 421 when it crossed into oncoming traffic and clipped the back end of a semi headed in the opposite direction. It happened near the intersection of State Road 16 in the town of Monon in White County around 5:30 p.m.
Troopers say the McKinney was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and is listed in critical condition. The semi driver, Carlos Calderon, of Chicago, was OK.
The area was shut down for several hours.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
Donations are being accepted to help around 300 seniors receive a holiday gift.
