LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The extension to McCarty Lane in Lafayette is expected to open soon.
The new addition to the road will be four lanes and extend McCarty Lane to State Road 26. in Lafayette.
McCarty Lane was formerly a dead end at the intersection of 550 E but will now provide easier access to State Road 26.
The Tippecanoe County Highway Department Executive Director Opal Kuhl said the road was built with the intention that it would be useful to the developments already present as well as new developments in the area.
"When the road was planned, it was planned according to the lots that are out there. There are some lots that are commercial, there are some lots that are residential, and then there are some lots that are owned by the school corporation. So we feel that it will serve this area."
