LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - An armed robber who held up a Lafayette gas station at gunpoint and then pistol whipped the cashier on the head was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Pat Harrington said 24-year-old Emmanuel Winters robbed Tower Liquors on Creasy Lane in March.
He held a gun to the clerk's head, whipped him with it and ran off with less than $300.
Police used footprints in the snow to track him to a nearby apartment.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for Armed Robbery with a Deadly Weapon and 10 years for being a habitual offender.
