MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) - What is known as "the biggest boat in Indiana" just got a facelift.
The Madam Carroll has a new owner and a new look. Tom Heckard of Logansport bought the boat last fall because he wanted to keep the tradition going. Updates include new carpeting, a new coat of paint and put in a retractable awning on the top floor just to name a few.
The total cost of the renovation was around $80,000. Heckard said some people were skeptical of the changes, but the upgrades were necessary.
"Nobody likes change, but the boat was basically the way it was in 1976 when it was built. We've done minor things here and there to make it better. Bring it up to date," said Heckard.
Heckard also added a wheelchair accessible door on the boat and ramp on the dock to accommodate more visitors. The Madam officially opens for the season Memorial Day weekend
