BUCK CREEK, Ind. (WLFI) - A long-time farm site has been rezoned for commercial use.
The Tippecanoe County Commissioners voted Monday morning to rezone almost 53 acres west of Buck Creek.
The property was split into four plots with the addition of the Hoosier Heartland Corridor to the area.
The General Business zoning means a potential for not only gas stations, but also fast food restaurants with drive-thru windows.
Attorney Dan Teder, who represents the property owners, says the proximity to the Hoosier Heartland and Buck Creek creates unique opportunities.
"I think there's other opportunities being three or four miles from Lafayette," Teder said. "But, being close to Buck Creek that somebody maybe from Buck Creek will want to add a business to the area having lived in Buck Creek rather than having it directly in Lafayette."
Teder says the owners have been in preliminary talks with potential businesses.
