LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - The success of the Logansport women's basketball team is now offering the girls the opportunity of a lifetime.
Last year the Community Schools of Logansport signed agreements to become sister schools with schools in Jinhua, China. During their visit, Chinese school officials noticed both the on and off the court success of the girls basketball team.
The team, along with Superintendent Michele Starkley and Athletic Director Greg Fisher, will travel to China next month to teach leadership classes and some basketball as well.
“It's one of those things that we can't offer them in a classroom. It's nothing that's in a textbook that we can learn and study, but actually get to go and experience it. It's quite a big ordeal for our students,” said Starkley.
Girls basketball will actually be in season when they leave.
The IHSAA approved the trip so the girls will not be penalized.
