LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - St. Matthew 25 Care and Share Soup kitchen manager Cheryl Rayburn said the coolers are full of fresh produce that needs to be distributed immediately.
The soup kitchen closed Dec.18 to restock supplies following the holiday distribution.
Rayburn said coolers don't normally fill up during the holiday season, but with so many donations they're running out of room.
"After Christmas, it still just kept coming in. And even though we were closed and rearranging and taking inventory and stuff, I cannot turn away free food. As long as we have the availability to store it, I'm going to take it," Rayburn said.
The soup kitchen will be giving out food starting Jan. 7.
