LAFAYETTE, Ind. - During an auction at the former rink Great Skates Thursday, plans were announced to re-open the building in September.
General Manager of Great Skates Scott Lehr said the auction was successful. Old skates and equipment were sold at the auction.
Lehr said Great Skates will reopen under a new name and new ownership. One of the new owners, Brian Eversman, said he also runs three other roller rinks. The other owner, Krisanna Eversman, said they are excited to bring roller skating back to the community.
"We are all very, very passionate about roller skating. We all grew up in it. So, it gives us a different outlook on it and it allows us to, you know, bring that to the community. You know, make it into the fun that it is," said Eversman.
Brian Eversman said he plans on renovating and updating the facility during the summer.
