Tippecanoe County, Ind (WLFI) - A Tippecanoe County 4th grade student is giving back to the doctors who saved his life. Hershey Elementary student Carter Swathwood is trying to raise $4,000 for Riley Hospital for Children.
Carter experienced respiratory failure after contracting H1N1 in 2009. He was airlifted to Riley where he fully recovered. Over the last year he has sold lemonade, popcorn, and even raked leaves to get donations.
For his efforts,he is being recognized by the hospital as a Riley Champion. Carter said giving back is the least he can do.
"Since they helped me when I was sick, I'm going to help other kids that are in there," said Carter.
Carter is having a bake sale Saturday morning. It is at the Holiday Inn Express on State Road 26 East in Lafayette. He will be there from 8 to 11 in the front lobby.
