LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - It's been 20 years since Lafayette Brewing company opened its doors.
"I'm here because I love to brew beer," owner Greg Emig said. "It's a craft that I'm really in to and this was the natural progression of that which started out kind of as a hobby, but we've taken it to the next step."
Emig took his passion for craft beer and turned it into a downtown staple serving up good food and brews for 20 years.
"Tuesday is the 20th anniversary to the day and we're going to have 20 different beers on tap," Emig said. "We've got a special beer that we brewed up just for the occasion."
The week long celebration will be filled with live music and of course hand-crafted ales.
Emig said deciding to open the business downtown two decades ago seemed like the perfect fit.
"The craftsman side of what we do has an appeal to people downtown because this is a bit of an arts community," the owner said. "That's something that was here before we got here and we helped to play upon."
The look of the restaurant may have changed a bit in the past two decades, but Emig said he still has the same passion for brewing 20 years later.
"We certainly had our struggles when we first opened up and we're glad that the community hung with us, and gave us multiple opportunities to come back and do the right thing for them," he said. "Give good beer, good food, and good service."
