LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Downtown Lafayette grocery store is expanding its menu to customers after it recently moved and expanded its space.
News 18's Krista Henery visited City Foods Co-op at its new location on Main Street and shows shoppers what new items they could expect to see on the shelves.
"We do all local cheeses that are all grass fed."
City Foods in Lafayette has a variety of fresh, locally grown items on the menu to take home to your kitchen.
"I think that we really fit that need for the downtown people to just be able to shop on the day to day for their food like they do in a bigger city," said kitchen manager Jessica Huff.
Huff said the grocery store is part of a co-op. She said shoppers can become members and have the choice to decide what'S sold on the shelves.
"We take suggestions from anyone and I'll try a product and if it doesn't go well, it doesn't go well."
Huff said the grocery store used to be located on North 9th Street in Lafayette, but after interest began to grow, they started running out of space and decided to move locations last week.
"We're really excited to be downtown. We've had all kinds of passers stop in which is really good for business, too."
Huff said now that they've expanded their space, they're also looking to expand their list of groceries they'll have for sale.
"We'll be trying to bring in more local goods from vendors in Lafayette and surrounding counties. Even up to crafts but we also do local honeys, local jams, you know, we do pretty much everything we can local."
City Foods celebrated its fifth year anniversary. Reporting in Lafayette in July.
