LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Lafayette Citizens Band kicks off the concert season with a Memorial Day performance.
The band is one of Lafayette's oldest organizations, dating all the way back to 1842.
Several patriotic pieces will be performed Monday evening including "An American Fanfare" and "America, the Beautiful." Veterans and current service members will be invited to stand during the band's rendition of the "Armed Forces Salute."
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Riehle Plaza in downtown Lafayette. The event is free, but food donations for Food Finders Food Bank and the Almost Home Humane Society will be accepted.
The Citizens Band will then continue its season with weekly concerts every Thursday at Riehle Plaza. For a complete list of concerts, head to the band's website .
