LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A long-time Lafayette City Councilman wants to become a judge.
Democrat Steve Meyer filed paperwork to form an exploratory committee for Judge of Tippecanoe Superior Court Two.
Meyer has been on the Lafayette City Council for 22 years.
He's currently in the middle of his sixth term on the council and would have to resign that position if he's elected to the bench.
Meyer hopes to replace Judge Thomas Busch, who has been Superior Two Judge for 14 years.
Judge Busch said he is not planning to seek re-election.
