LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Farmer's Market in Downtown Lafayette had a special guest on Saturday. Second District U.S. Representative Joe Donnelly was downtown mingling with voters.
Donnelly, who is running for U.S. Senate, was shown around the Farmer's Market by Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski. Donnelly expressed to every vendor the importance of small businesses and discussed his plans to help create new jobs.
Donnelly said through the creation of jobs, the future will look brighter for the next generation.
"In Indiana, we understand the way we grow our country is by creating jobs and keeping the books in order," said Donnelly. "Making sure that as we move forward, we give our kids an even greater opportunity than we had."
Donnelly even took the opportunity to purchase some of the local products on Saturday. Donnelly is running against Republican Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdock in the November General Election.
Inventions were built by Purdue mechanical engineering students for a final class project.
