LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette home was significantly damaged in a fire Wednesday night.
It all happened around 9:45 p.m. at 726 Clover Lane on the city's east side.
Assistant Fire Chief Mike Hieatt said when crews arrived, the smoke was heavy and flames were coming out the front windows. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 10 minutes.
Residents made it out of the house safely, but Hieatt said the family lost pet birds to the fire.
