WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The president of a White County animal shelter is disappointed after a judge rules a former board member was not voted off properly.
A judge ruled Angela Hughes was unfairly kicked off the Happy Tails Animal Care Center board in Buffalo. Her position was ordered to be reinstated.
Current board president Colleen Bowers said they were following state code and the Happy Tails bylaws when Hughes was removed.
Bowers said Hughes was removed following a break-in at the shelter that led to a criminal investigation.
Bowers said that investigation is ongoing. However, Bowers said the criminal investigations of her and the shelter have been dropped.
Bowers said they have a scheduled board meeting tomorrow.
She said a vote to remove Hughes from the board once more could come up at next month's meeting.
