DAYTON, Ind. (WLFI) - A malfunctioning sensor led to a fuel spill in Tippecanoe County.
It happened around 7 p.m. Monday at the Phillips 66 in Dayton.
Firefighters said a diesel tanker was supplying the gas station with fuel when an automatic shut-off system malfunctioned. 130 gallons of fuel spilled into the parking lot.
Officials said two people were pumping gas when the spill happened, but no one was injured and the fuel didn't pose a health threat.
The gas station was shut down while crews cleared the scene.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
Donations are being accepted to help around 300 seniors receive a holiday gift.
