LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Residents in and around the downtown area of Lafayette found themselves in the dark Tuesday night.
Duke Energy officials said around 7:30 p.m., a piece of equipment at the Cincinnati Street substation failed. At this time, it's still unknown exactly what happened to the piece of equipment.
More than 1,800 customers were affected by the outage.
The equipment at the substation needed to be de-energized before crews were able to start the repair work.
