WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - With this summer's consistent drought conditions, road construction at the intersection of Yeager Road and Northwestern Avenue will be completed ahead of schedule.
West Lafayette Public Works Director Dave Buck said the two-lane roundabout will be open for drivers by August 9.
That's about a month ahead of the original deadline.
Buck said finishing the roundabout early, will help when Purdue's football season kicks off.
He said this new roundabout could take drivers some time to get used to.
"We know there's going to be a learning curve, and we hope folks are patient and willing to be cautious and take their time. But really, once you've been through it and see how it operates, we think the learning curve is going to be pretty steep, so folks will get used to it pretty quickly."
Buck says although the road will open in early August, construction will continue through October as new trails go in along Northwestern.
He said that construction is not expected to get in the way of traffic.
