TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Dozens of neighbors near Fort Ouiatenon who opposed an agricultural rental hall get their wish.
Petitioner Beth Nichols has pulled her proposal to build a barn-style venue on River Road, west of the Fort.
Although the area planning staff had recommended approval, at both June and September's Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) meeting, the BZA had split and inconclusive votes.
Nichols was slated to have a third hearing on the matter Wednesday night, but pulled the item from the agenda earlier this month.
Although neither meeting had all BZA members in attendance to guarantee a conclusive vote, between the two meetings, four members voted against her, three members voted for her.
In September, Steve Clevenger, Carl Griffin and Larry Leverenz voted against her. Ed Butz and Gary Schroeder voted for Nichols.
In June, Steve Schreckengast joined Clevenger and Griffin in voting against the venue. Ed Weast joined Butz and Schroeder in voting for the request.
