WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue University's newest board of trustee member may surprise you.
Junior Kelsey Quin is the only student on the Purdue Board of Trustees. Kelsey and other candidates applied this spring, and then went through an interview process with the current committee members.
The application is then sent to the statehouse for further review. Governor Mike Pence made the final decision selecting Kelsey in June of this year.
Growing up, Kelsey was involved with the Peru Amateur Circus for many years as an acrobat. Kelsey says that she is proud to represent her fellow peers.
"I just bring a different perspective to the board that maybe they wouldn't have. For me that personally means trying to go and talk to as many students and staff, to get their different points of views on different matters," said Quin.
Kelsey will serve a term of two years on the board and replaces recent graduate Miranda McCormack.
