INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A church van was involved in a fatal crash on the city's east side Sunday night.
Officials say the accident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of 46th and Emerson.
Witnesses said the church van was headed west on 46th Street and clipped the back of a car heading north on Emerson. The vehicle flipped on to its side.
Officials say 18 people were on board the van from Jesus House of Prayer Temple, 3450 N. Illinois Street.
The Indianapolis Fire Department confirms one person was killed in the crash.
A witness told IFD the driver of another car involved in the crash ran off after the collision. He has since been apprehended by police.
