LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Five lucky and deserving area students will be awarded with thousands of dollars in cash prizes for their good deeds and hard work.
Bauer Family Resources kicked off their second annual Celebrate Youth! awards campaign Thursday.
Four $1,000 awards will given to local kids who have overcome obstacles in their lives and have demonstrated a contribution to an area like sportsmanship, commitment to learning, or creative self-expression. One deserving student will be named "Youth of the Year" and given a $2,000 check.
The Chair of the Board for Bauer Family Resources Jennifer Russell said these awards are about recognizing students that may otherwise escape notice.
"This might not be the "A++" student necessarily, but the student who's in school making that happen when no one else in his or her life supports them," Russell said. "We want to recognize that that's important and special and it deserves to be celebrated."
Bauer Family Resources will hand out the awards at their Celebrate Youth! banquet April 9.
Applications will be accepted through Feb. 22.
