CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) - A house fire took the life of a Crawfordsville man Monday morning.
According to the Crawfordsville mayor's office, the city's fire department got a call of a fire in the 1700 block of Fremont Street just before 9:45 a.m.
Crews arrived just a few minutes later and had the fire under control quickly.
Crews said they found the body of 67-year-old Kenneth Albert Lyon in the front room of the home. The Montgomery County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene, and his cause of death is pending an autopsy.
Officials say they determined the cause of the fire was the "careless" use of smoking materials in combination with the use of home oxygen.
