LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A car hit a lamp post on northbound I-65 near the State Road 26 exit ramp Friday morning.
The car somehow flipped and became wedged beneath the fallen lamp post near the 172 mile marker.
The driver was taken to an area hospital. His or her injuries are unknown at this hour. This was one of many issues on I-65 Friday morning following a winter storm that dumped only minor snow accumulations but brought high winds and very cold wind chills to the area.
Several school delays were reported along with a few school closings. Local law enforcement officials are advising drivers to use extra caution and allow yourself extra time to get to your destination.
The drop in temperatures brings the potential for health dangers, such as hypothermia and frost bite. The bitter temperatures can pose a threat for children, adults and pets.
